Well, it is a week into the New Year...I guess I am a little late posting about the new year, but I am not a New Years resolution kind of person, so I had nothing to announce, and I was really enjoying my holiday vacation away from writing academic papers, my telecommuting job, and the IT work that goes with that. In addition, after the big craft show and all the work I did to pull that off successfully I had nothing to craft and/or blog about either. The only time I have spent in my craft room was to rearrange it and clear out some clutter.
So I just expressed myself and exactly how and why my blog is so far behind...which brings me back to the "New Year" thing...I like to start my new years off with a motto; and this year (thanks to the new Microsoft commercial and the tune that goes with it) I have figured out my motto, and it works for me in a few different ways!
- First. Of course I will always express myself through art, but this year I want to have more muse in my life...I expressed that issue to my fiance requiring us to get out and enjoy life a little more, especially the outdoors when the weather permits. He agreed.
- Second. I do not see the big need to spend a ton of dough on a huge wedding this year...I need a vacation and would rather have a nice honeymoon instead...I expressed that, and heard a joyful echo...it definitely is worth expressing myself so far!
- If someone is annoying me or causing me some kind of anguish and they aren't getting body language signals...I am going to express myself verbally if necessary.
Just three examples in one week of me "expressing myself "...and quite successfully, I might add! Why, you might ask have a motto? Well it beats a disappointing resolution that cannot be kept like quit smoking, drinking, or eating sweets! How many people have already broken their resolutions this year I wonder??? Hmm lets see...I know two so far, and haven't been far from home.
In case you were wondering what Microsoft commercial tune I am talking about...this is the original artist Charles Wright and The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band. It was a #3 single on the charts back in the 1970s and if you watch TV...you have definitely seen the commercial :
Madonna has a a great version of her own of course...and that is also in my plans for the New Year...expressing myself the way she directs...and lets see where that leads by the time the honeymoon plans are made...LOL...TMI? Sorry...I was expressing myself once again!
Last year my motto was to just be nicer to people no matter what, I have since come out of my academic exclusiveness, and made some friends (who all like my peanut butter cups :) that I had been passing out on the holidays of 2011 (so far I have only expressed myself negatively to one of those friends...now that person seems to be emulating me...not getting upset...lol).
I feel I am a better humanitarian as well and still spread the word about the environment which was my motto the year before, that I still hold up to this day; as well as pass knowledge along to these new friends I went out and made.I also have a buddy staying in my craft room for the winter. Anyone who knows me, or who has actually read my blog, knows that I am an animal lover. With that being said, I have been working on controlling a clowder of feral cats, and now there is only one cat left. I couldn't let him stay out in the cold winter (he was born spring of 2011 and had mild weather since then, he may not have made it through this year). I got the cat fixed through the ASPCA feral cat program along with his mom and sister.
Mom died and sister moved to Pennsylvania with my former neighbor. God bless her. This is the "Love Bug"as my neighbor Susie (also an avid animal lover) so fondly named him after caring for him along with me for a while. We found him a home (with one of my new friends) and he did not like it there at all. After a week we went to plan B and he was brought from the new home to a nice farm in Lonejack, MO; where he would be fed and have shelter in exchange for keeping critters out of feed silos and such. Well the very next morning he traveled 40 miles to be back with me...he didn't like the farm either. He sure does like me though...here he is chillaxin' on my chest:
As you can see we are having a great year with our new motto, and my two previous years' mottos are working out still as well...no disappointments or regrets! I hope everyone else is having a good 2013...I have a wedding ceremony and honeymoon to plan for 10/13/2013...I am going to Express Myself through my own vows, a beautiful ceremony, and my own artistic touch to show what it means to me.
